Our mayoral candidate forums continue that tradition by giving Chicagoans an accessible and inclusive way to hear directly from those seeking to lead. City Club does not endorse candidates, and these events are presented to inform and engage the public.

Joe Holberg

Joe Holberg was the first declared candidate for mayor of Chicago for this upcoming election cycle. He is also the first candidate in Chicago history to write a campaign book, The Holberg Plan, outlining his priorities, plan, and vision for Chicago. His campaign centers around bringing a fresh perspective and problem-solving approach to City Hall, with a focus on economic growth, fiscal responsibility, housing affordability, public education, and safety, especially on CTA. 

Joe has dedicated his life to serving others in roles via Americorps; as a math teacher on the West Side of Chicago; and at Google, where he built a computer science education platform for girls and underrepresented students that has been used by hundreds of CPS teachers and 10,000 CPS students as well as five million students globally.

As an entrepreneur, author, and educator, Joe spent 10 years founding and leading Spring, the nation's first financial wellness company. Spring helped thousands of Chicagoans from all walks of life—from teachers and baristas to software engineers and young professionals-—work toward and achieve their financial goals. Joe lives in Lincoln Park with his wife and two children.
